North Carolina E. coli Outbreak traced to restaurant

An E. coli outbreak in North Carolina has been traced to food served at a restaurant, according to an article posted at WCNC.com.  The North Carolina Division of Public Health is conducting an investigation into the outbreak along with Rowan and Cabbarus County health departments.  WCNC.com reports:

Lab tests have confirmed four cases of E. coli so far, and another nine cases are considered probable and are awaiting lab tests.

Officials say many of the sick people ate at the Captain’s Galley Restaurant between May 26 and May 29.

“Any other people who ate at the Captain’s Galley Restaurant on or after May 26 and who develop diarrhea should see a doctor immediately,” the news release states, noting that E. coli can cause serious and long-lasting effects such as kidney failure.
