Dixon, CA Child Dies From E Coli Infection

A  Dixon, CA child died of an E. coli infection late Thursday, according to Solano County Public Health officials.  They were investigating the death along with testing on a second Dixon child  who displayed some symptoms but is now home and "doing well."

"It is a tragedy to lose a child and our hearts and prayers go out to this child's family and friends," said Dr. Ronald Chapman, MD, MPH, Health Officer and Deputy Director in a press release . "Public Health is investigating the death to see if we can identify where or how the minor contracted the E. coli infection. Sometimes an investigation can point to a probable cause and in other cases, the source of the infection remains unknown."

Solano Public Health staff are back-tracking the minor's activities, food sources, and water sources, and are in close communication with the State laboratory which is testing blood samples to determine the specific strain of E. coli.

Both water districts in Dixon have been testing upstream and downstream from the dead child's home with negative results for E. coli.

Why is a small community of about 17,000 people not more involved in 3 recent deaths of minors due to E.coli in Dixon Ca. This appears to me as a very serious situation and I don't see any particular warnings going out to the public.

Our organization is investigating the reported E.coli contamination and the death of the teenage boy from E.coli. I only read reports of one death from E.coli. Were there 3 deaths?
Does anyone know the location (cross-streets) of the hose bib where E.coli was first discovered?

Our investigation has uncovered shocking information. Hall Memorial Park, adjacent to Dixon High School and the neighborhood that received the E.coli warning on December 3rd, is the site of the old Dixon City Landfill. Chemicals from this closed dump might be the source of drinking water contamination and caused the death of the Dixon High School student on December 19th. Why didn't Dixon City officials include this closed City dump in the investigation of the student's death? How many other Dixon High School students, staff and nearby residents became ill? What chemicals are in the closed dump? Why were the park and high school built on this contaminated land in the first place? Our investigation continues...
